The Embassy Suites Hotel Dupont Circle in Washington D.C. makes an excellent base for seeing the sights with children in tow.

The Embassy Suites - D.C. is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of D.C. about five blocks from the nearest Metro stop. The Dupont Circle metro stop is a 15-minute ride from the popular attractions like the Smithsonian Museums and other mall attractions. Dupont Circle is a popular neighborhood full of shops and restaurants.

Rooms at the Embassy Suites

The standard room at an Embassy Suites Hotel is a two-room suite. The bedroom includes either a king-size bed or two double beds. The second room is a living room with a fold-out couch, desk and chairs. The bathroom is reasonably spacious with the standard tub/shower combo.

A free breakfast is part of the package. The breakfast includes made-to-order eggs, as well as a buffet with bacon, potatoes and scrambled eggs. There is also a waffle station where guests can make their own waffles. In addition, a variety of bagels, bread for toast, muffins, cereals and yogurts are offered.

Wi Fi is available in the hotel rooms for a fee. The charge in March 2010 was $12.95 per day.

Each of the rooms in the suite includes a 32” HD television with the basic cable channels and HBO (although kids will be disappointed that the Disney channel is not available).

The hotel has a small swimming pool and hotel as well as a well-equipped gym. In addition, there is an arcade located near the pool.

There is a charge for parking. In March 2010, the charge for parking was $31.35 per day.

Service at The Embassy Suites in DC

The staff is very friendly. Staff members welcome guests to the complimentary breakfast as well as the afternoon nacho snacks. They make a special effort to make children feel welcome. A series of small ponds in the nine-story atrium courtyard contain large goldfish. The fish are fed twice a day and the staff invites children to help with the feeding.

The hotel hosts a movie for kids every afternoon. A large screen HD television located in a nook in the lobby with a few rows of benches serves as an impromptu movie theatre. Every evening the hotel offers free nachos for guests and kids are welcome to take the nachos up to the movie. During a recent stay the movies were Wall-e, Monsters versus Aliens, and the Ant Bully.

A local farmer’s market takes place every Sunday at 20th St., between Massachusetts Ave. and Q Street near Dupont Circle. In addition to fruits and vegetables, cheese, bread, the market includes flowers, handmade soaps and desserts.

An all-suites hotel is an ideal home away from home for traveling families. The Embassy Suites – D.C. provides a spacious two-room layout which allows family members to spread out comfortably. and the special attention to kids is a nice bonus.
